The short version

One teacher, three instruments

I teach violin, viola and piano. They can look like three different jobs, but they are the same one. Someone wants to be able to play something they currently cannot, and they need it broken into steps that are small enough to actually take.

Inspire, learn, progression. In that order, and none of them skipped.

The Elements · 五行 火生土

Fire generates Earth

In the Five Elements, Fire generates Earth. Fire burns and becomes ash, which returns to the Earth, nourishing and strengthening it.

It is one of the five generating relationships in the ring below.

陆老师's own artwork for The Elements Music School: a 八卦 medallion with a grand piano and a violin at its centre, ringed by the five elements 金 metal, 木 wood, 水 water, 火 fire and 土 earth. A side panel reads “Fire supports Earth. 火生土. Fire generates Earth.” Beneath the medallion: The Elements Music School. Inspire, learn, progression. Now this is music.

Why I teach in five elements

金 METAL
相生 · the generating cycle
Focus · Strength · Precision

The two bars we repeat until the shift finally lands. Precision is not strictness. It is knowing exactly which small thing to fix next, and fixing only that one.

Have a question first?

Ask me anything before you commit to a lesson: what to buy, whether your child is old enough, whether it is too late to start. I would rather you asked.
